Certified Nursing Assistant

Start Date 5/1/24
End Date 5/31/24

Certified nursing assistants play a key role as members of the comprehensive healthcare team in a variety of medical settings - hospitals, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, community care facilities and as home health aides in patients' homes. A certified nursing assistant's main role is to provide basic care to patients, as well as assist them in daily activities they might have trouble with on their own, such as bathing. Because of the personal nature of the job, certified nursing assistants should be compassionate and enjoy helping others.

Course Description

Concepts and practices in basic skills for Nursing Assistants. The course includes basic medical terminology, basic human anatomy and physiology, and the aging process. Students will gain understanding and application of the skills required to address the needs of the chronically ill residents.

BLS training will be available during this training.  Students must be BLS certified prior to clinical experience.  BLS training is offered as a part of the CNA course as a convenience to students, but if already certified or want to take a BLS class elsewhere in the community, the student is not required to attend on that day.
